ÖZET
Yakın zamana kadar batıda Bromley ile ilgili çalışmaların büyük bir bölümü Bromley’in metodolojisinin ilkçi olduğunu vurgulamakta idi. Fakat unutulmamalıdır ki batıda yapılan bu çalışmalar etniste kavramı üzerinden yürütülmektedir. Ayrıca Rus etnoloji okulunda kullanılan etnos ve etniçnost’ mefhumları özelikle Anglosakson batı literatürü ile denklik sorunları olan mefhumlardır. Bu mefhumlardan etniçnost’ etnik gruplar arasındaki ilişki için kullanılırken, etnos kavramı ise etnik grupların tarihsel boyutuna yoğunlaşarak etnogenez olgusunu ön plana çıkarmaktadır. Günümüzde bu iki olgu Rusya Federasyonu'nda (etno) sosyoloji ve (etniçeskaya) sosyoloji olmak üzere iki farklı ders olarak okutulmaktadır. Konu bu açıdan tekrar ele alındığında, batıda Bromley ile yapılan çalışmaların sorgulanması gerektiğini düşünmekteyiz. Bu makalenin amacı Bromley’in metodolojisinin dinamik bir sistem içerisinde tasarlandığını okuyucuya göstermektir. Bu dinamik yapıyı daha iyi anlatabilmek için Bromley’in metodolojisini dikey ve yatay bir diyagram üzerinde ele almaktayız. Etnik bilincin anahtar rol oynadığı dikey taksonomik seviyede sub-etnos, etnos ve meta etnik topluluklar incelenirken bu mefhumlar ile ilişkili olarak etnografik grup ve tarihî etnografik alan gibi mefhumlarda ele alınmaktadır. Diğer taraftan yatay düzlemde ise insanlık tarihi ekonomik parametrelere göre kesitlere ayrılarak dönemin koşullarında ortaya çıkan etnik sistemler kabile, halk, millet olarak incelenmektedir.

ABSTRACT

Until recently especially in the western world the studies which have been conducted on Bromley, have found that the methodology of Bromley is primordial. We should not forget that these studies were produced through the concept of ethnicity. Russian concepts of ethnos and etnichnost’, however, does not comply with the notion of ethnicity in Anglo-Saxon western literature. While the concept etnichnost’, which mostly emphasizes the relationship between various ethnic groups in Russian literature, is more likely to be comparable with the concepts of ethnicity, the concept of ethnos highlights the problem of ethnogenesis through an historical perspective. Even today, these concepts in the Russian school of thought are taught in two separate courses: (etno) sociology and (etnicheskaya) sociology. As a result, western studies on the interpretation of Bromley would be different from the studies conducted in Russia. The aim of this article is to demonstrate that Bromley’s methodology is based on a dynamic system. In order to demonstrate this dynamism, Bromley’s theory should be evaluated on the vertical and horizontal axis. On the vertical axis, where the ethnic consciousness plays a key role, concepts like sub-etnos, ethnos and meta-ethnos have been analyzed. In connection to these concepts like ethnographical group and historical-ethnographical-region are also examined. On the horizontal axis, however, the history of mankind is divided into various phases according to the economic stages of social development. In each period is examined according to their specific ethnic systems such as tribe, people and nation.
